Headteacher's Welcome
At its centre, Woodchester is a school that exudes inclusivity and welcome. It is, and always has been, a caring school.
It is a privilege to be entrusted with guiding children through their primary school years. These are precious and important years, when children grow, change and develop in so many ways. At Woodchester, we want every child to Love, Learn and Flourish together, guided by our values of Generosity, Friendship, Forgiveness, Hope, Trust and Courage.
We believe that school should be a place where children feel happy, safe, valued and inspired. We aim to make life at Woodchester as rich and varied as possible, providing a well-designed and engaging curriculum that gives every child the opportunity to discover their interests, recognise their strengths and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We want our children to understand that when we work together, there really are no limits to what we can achieve or the hopes we can have for the future. We encourage them to be curious, to ask questions, to embrace challenges and to have the courage to try new things.
We also know that our children are growing up in a rapidly changing world, where strength of character, kindness and resilience are more important than ever. Developing our school values is therefore central to everything we do. Whether it is showing generosity and friendship to others, finding forgiveness, having hope, building trust or showing courage, we look for opportunities to nurture these qualities throughout every aspect of school life.
At Woodchester, learning happens everywhere. It might be discovering the wonder of a dragonfly, getting lost in a new book, working together on a project, performing on stage, playing with friends or overcoming something that once seemed difficult. Each of these experiences helps our children to grow into confident, compassionate and well-rounded young people.
Our greatest hope is that every child leaves Woodchester with a smile on their face, wonderful memories of their primary school years, a strong sense of who they are and the skills, confidence and character they need to embrace whatever lies ahead.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Woodchester family.

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport and physical activity. We look forward to applying once again in 2026!
February 2025
Our school is living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish. The school’s formidable commitment to a nurturing and inclusive environment results in pupils knowing their strengths.
STEM LEARNING SMALL SCHOOLS' HUB!
Our school has won an Enthuse grant of £25,000 from STEM York, a national organisation set up to improve young people’s lives through the power of STEM (Science, Technology and Maths). The Enthuse grant programme encourages schools to work in collaboration to improve the outcomes of pupils in STEM subjects so that they develop an understanding of the opportunities and careers that are available in STEM. This collaboration will allow us to build on the success of last year’s Primary Science Quality Mark and ensure that our children are well equipped to consider STEM careers of the future.
