Children's voices should be heard
Three of the Y5 children joined 100 other primary schools up and down the UK for the inaugural NYLG meeting via Microsoft Teams. The NYLG, or National Younger Leadership Group 2025 to give it's full title, is a chance for children to share and debate topics that they feel adults need to take action on.
The programme allows children to have their voices heard whilst developing skills in communication, active listening, teamwork, compassion and courage whilst working with the Foundation of the Archbishop of York. Topics and themes will be shared at the General Synod in the summer of 2025. There are five meetings across the school year where the children will discuss and debate topics that they feel strongly about.
As Esther said, "even if you are young, you can still be a role model." Well put children - I'm looking forward to hearing more of your opinions.
