Statutory Assessments
As a local authority maintained school, Woodchester Endowed CofE Primary School follows the National Curriculum as laid out by the Department for Education.
In line with the National Curriculum, the school has to partake in all statutory assessments specified by the Department and these are as follows:
- Reception baseline assessment - schools must complete the reception baseline assessment for each child in the first 6 weeks after they enter reception.
- Early years foundation stage profile assessment - schools must complete this assessment between April and June of the academic year in which a child turns 5, this is usually the reception year.
- Phonic screening test - children in Year 1 sit a test during June each year where it is confirmed whether they have learned phonic decoding to an age appropriate standard. There are 40 words (real words and pseudo words) which the child has to read (decode) to confirm their phonic knowledge.
- Multiplication Timestable Check - children in Year 4 have an electronic on-line check in June each year. They are asked a series of 25 questions including up to 12x12 and have a short time within which to answer each question.
- End of KS2 SATS - schools must complete these between Monday 11th May and Thursday 14th May in line with the government's timetable. Children in Year 6 sit papers in grammar, spelling, reading comprehension and mathematics.
