Ash and Beech Class braved the rainy weather and visited Slimbridge Wetland Centre. Equipped with raincoats and wellington boots, we explored the wetlands and took part in an exciting workshop all about Brilliant Bird Adaptations.

As part of our science learning this term, KS1 are investigating different ‘animal families’ including birds, mammals and amphibians. Our visit provided an engaging, hands-on learning experience that allowed us to investigate how the birds that visit Slimbridge are adapted to their environment.

After a well-deserved lunch break, we were fortunate enough to enjoy an Amphibian talk about axolotls! The Slimbridge staff commented on how impressed they were by the interesting and thoughtful questions asked by both classes.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff who kindly gave their time and support to accompany us on this trip. The children’s positivity and enthusiasm, despite the soggy weather, made for a wonderful day out.
