We are very lucky, through our work with Stroud District Council, to have offered a Birds of Prey club this term. The children have loved meeting Jenny and her birds of prey. We have learnt about their habitats, how they survive in the wild, the history of falcons and so much more. The best bit though has been getting to hold the birds - a falcon, a barn owl and a tawny owl have been our favourites.
We learnt that phrases such as 'under the thumb', 'hoodwinked', 'fed-up' and 'at the end of my tether' are all phrases which have come from humans using birds of prey over thousands of years.
