Stroud Book Festival - Encouraging a love of reading!
On Wednesday 2nd November, this year’s Stroud Book Festival began and children in Juniper Class and Beech Class took advantage by taking part in two author workshops. Meeting ‘real’ authors can result in inspired and motivated children as you can read from the comments below!
Thank you to Miss Smith and Mrs Jordan for supporting the Stroud Book Festival and for encouraging a love of reading.
Beech Class
We heard from author and illustrator Lydia Monks. She shared her stories with us and gave us a sneak peek at new ones.
Amelia - 'I liked it because she was telling us about her stories and sharing new ones with us.'
Thomas - 'It was calming watching Lydia do the drawing.'
Edith - 'I really liked the drawing part - it was about animals and I really like animals. She was showing us and helping us.'
Lola - 'I liked What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas - it has inspired me!'
Bella - 'I liked the nature part of her stories.'
Juniper Class
We listened to the author Emma Carroll as she discussed her new book 'The Tale of Truthwater Lake'. We learnt all about how she gets her inspiration for writing and what she loves about storytelling.
Iska - 'I liked how she started to read her book to us.'
Harrison - 'I want to be an illustrator and author!'
