CHELTENHAM LITERATURE FESTIVAL - a trip to the Everyman Theatre!

We shared a coach with Amberley school and it took us to Cheltenham Literature Festival at the Everyman Theatre.

When we arrived, we waited for the authors MG Leonard and Phil Earle to come onto the stage and this gave us time to look around at the theatre.  There was an amazing chandelier in the middle of the beautifully painted ceiling.  It was a lovely experience to sit and admire the decoration.

When everyone arrived on stage it was full of people and we couldn’t tell who was who.  We kept trying to guess which one was MG Leonard – no one was right!  Phil Earle was hilarious! MG Leonard read with lots of expression and used different voices for her characters.

The authors read short extracts from their books and they talked about what inspired them.  Some children were invited up to read their poetry and we were very proud of Charlotte and Dora who read theirs to the whole theatre.

It was a fantastic experience and we would both love to repeat this trip in the future.

Thank you to Mrs Loomes and Mrs Beavis for coming with us.  It was a great addition to our journey on ‘Breakfast with Books’.
