Carducci String Quartet

The Painswick Music Society organised school recitals and this year the Carducci String Quartet visited four schools in Gloucestershire.  We were absoluted delighted that Woodchester was one of only four schools to successfully apply for a visit by these fantastically talented professional musicians.  Not only were they a joy to listen to but they also engaged with passion and joy, encouraging children to ask questions and learn more about music.

They played a contrasting programme including music by Haydn, Beethoven and Phillip Glass.  During one memorable piece, children were invited up to identify which instrument was playing the main theme by placing a hat on that musician's head!  Great fun whilst listening carefully in order to recognise the main theme.

Our children were treated to forty five minutes of wonderful music making.  It was inspiring, thought provoking and also enabled us to think about the importance of working as a team, recognising individual talents, bringing them together to create something fantastic and sharing these talents for the benefit of others.  A wonderful example of 'Indeed, the body does not consist of one but member but of many'.
