District Sports and Sports Day July 2021
With little notice, we managed to put together a small team of runners to take part in the District Sports competition. This year, the event was much smaller and there was no winning school; it was racing for fun and enjoyment at the end of a difficult year. Sadly, we could not take the competitors from Hawthorn Class although we managed to attend. A small number of schools were unable to go due to bubble closures and one unfortunate school had to leave the event early due to a bubble closure during the afternoon. Our small team worked very hard and their enthusiasm and sportsmanship were admirable. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and we look forward to being able to take a much larger team next year.
On Tuesday, we held our much adapted Sports Day. With the day being extremely hot it was probably a blessing that the session for each class was shorter than usual. It was also fantastic to be able to welcome parents to the event. There was a lovely atmosphere and the children enjoyed sharing time with their adults in school. Let’s hope that 2021/22 allows more occasions like this!
