Maths in Nature Week March 2026

What a lovely week we had, both indoors and outdoors, during our Maths in Nature Week March 2026. The purpose of this learning was to appreciate how Maths is all around us and, possibly, not in obvious ways. There were a variety of events across the week which included counting, data collection and looking at patterns in nature. Please have a look at our photos that show the wide variety of learning that took place.

Ash Class Counting

Ash class used natural objects for counting.

Beech Class Minibeast Hunt

Beech Class went on a minibeast hunt and they recorded their results using a tally chart.

Beech Class Symmetry

Beech Class drew insects that showed symmetry.

Juniper Class Beehives

Juniper Class investigated hexagons and how they fit together to form a bee hive.

Hawthorn Class Counting

Hawthorn used flower petals to help them with fractions. They counted the petals and then were able to show different fractions.

Willow Data Collection

Willow took a metre of space on the field and counted the different plants within that space. They then produced a graph to show their results.
