Woodchester Literature Festival 2024

This year's Woodchester Literature Festival was based around the theme of animal conservation. We read 'Interview with a Panda and Other Endangered Animals Too' by Andy Seed. We were then lucky enough to have Andy visit us and work with each class.

Interviews

We put our interviewing skills to the test!

Wildhogs Rescue

We were joined by the Wildhogs Rescue team who came to talk to us all about how we can look after hedgehogs. We were shocked to hear that hedgehogs may become extinct in the near future if more is not done to help them.

Creating exploding books

Hawthorn Class were busy making exploding books! These were based on the endangered animals featured in Andy Seed's book.

Non-fiction writing

Willow Class spent time finding, researching and noting key facts about different endangered animals.

Persuasive speeches

Beech Class wrote and performed their own persuasive speeches on how to save green turtles.

Who would we interview?

We thought about characters who we would like to interview and came in dressed up as them.

Woodchester Literature Festival 2023

To celebrate books and our love of writing, we held our very own Woodchester Literature Festival week in March. It was a jam-packed celebration across the week, where we explored a wonderful book, 'Moth', and shared in the joys that are reading and writing.

Writing poetry

Every child in school wrote a poem based on the book, 'Moth', and we celebrated at the end of the week by reading these with parents and carers.

DEAR

Dropping everything to enjoy a book!

Learning about moths

Enjoying a talk from our visitor about moths and how amazing they are.

Our 'wild' costumes

We all dressed up as something from the natural world.

Wire moths

Moths made out of wire during one of our Forest School sessions.

Even Peggy joined in...

Peggy loved getting involved with all the reading!
