Computing (IT)

“Computers themselves, and software yet to be developed, will revolutionize the way we learn” stated Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder and pioneer of the home PC revolution in the 1970s and 1980s.

At Woodchester Endowed Church of England Primary School, we aim to instil a sense of enjoyment around using technology safely and to develop a pupil’s appreciation of the capabilities of technology as well as what it can offer, create, manage, organise and collaborate in this modern world.

It is important to allow children to ‘tinker’ with software and programs. This ethos supports our children in developing confidence when encountering new technology, which is a vital life skill in the ever evolving and changing landscape of technology. Through our curriculum, we intend for pupils to not only be digitally competent and have a range of transferable skills at a suitable level for the future workplace but also to be responsible online citizens. We want to equip our children to be able to have a good understanding of appropriate online behaviour, copyright issues, being discerning consumers of online information and have healthy use of technology.
