A welcome to Hawthorn, by Mrs Pickering

Welcome to Hawthorn Class! I am Mrs Pickering and I work alongside Mrs Boulton, our helpful teaching assistant. We are a mixed class of Year 3 and Year 4 children. 

Hawthorn is a fun and encouraging class environment. We aim to make the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 a smooth changeover for the Year 3 children by helping them to develop into confident, independent and enthusiastic learners. Similarly, the Year 4 learners are supported in preparing them to go into Upper Key Stage 2 by refining their skills already learnt in Hawthorn and become more inquisitive about our world.

In Hawthorn, we will help pupils understand their role as independent learners within school. During the year, we aim for your child to mature emotionally and socially and feel confident but, above all, enjoy their time in our class.

We will be doing a lot of creative learning, collaboration and drama to make the learning enjoyable and engaging. Challenges and support will be offered to all children to ensure they reach their potential in all areas of the curriculum.

We are a team in Hawthorn where the children are happy, valued members of Christian school and community.
